THE COURSE
Opened in 1992 and designed by Steve Smyers of Florida, and Bob Stanton, this 18-hole championship course is ranked among Australia's top resort courses. The front nine is tree-lined with sloping fairways, while the back nine has a links-style layout. There are over 60 huge bunkers, and dramatically shaped and elevated greens. With stunning views of the vineyards and surrounding ridges and mountains, the course is equally enjoyable for novices or seasoned players.
GRA MEMBERSHIP OFFER
2 for 1 Green Fees - Save $84
1. Par 5, 433m
Aim your drive right fairway to miss the bunkers. A lay up short of the bunkers before the green leaves a simple wedge for par or birdie.
2. Par 4, 369m
Keep left fairway off the tee or you’ll be in the Cab-Sav! Favour the right green for your second to avoid sand and water left.
3. Par 3, 190m
A testing par 3 from the back tee. Trouble is sand left and short right so favour the right side of the green but don’t be too long.
4. Par 4, 383m
Left centre fairway is certainly the best line here. Your second shot is the tough one, if unsure a lay up left and short can save your par.
5. Par 3, 155m
An uphill par 3 which calls for one extra club at least. Favour the right of the green for safety and don’t be short.
6. Par 5, 461m
A well centred drive is ideal here, the second lot of bunkers are not as close as they seem. Lay up to the left leaving a wedge into this small green.
7. Par 4, 290m
A short but tough par 4. The tee shot should be right fairway leaving just a short to mid iron into the green.
8. Par 4, 322m
A wide landing area for your tee shot but favour the left side. You must be up with your second, lots of sand short and more left
of green.
9. Par 4, 382m
They’ve saved the toughest to the last. A good long drive is needed here. A huge bunker right green so it pays to aim left green for your second.
10. Par 4, 303m
A fairway wood tee shot middle to left fairway opens up the green. Anything left into the green is big trouble, bail out right if unsure.
11. Par 3, 123m
The wonderful view may take your mind off the job here! Favour the right green, the bunker is less fearsome that the precipitous slope left. Don’t be short.
12. Par 4, 401m
Long and tough, don’t force your drive though, a mishit is sudden death! Favour the left of the green for the approach, deep bunkers right can spoil your score.
13. 1Par 4, 359m
The driving line is the rocks centre fairway, anything right may roll into the trees. A tough second shot to a small green – swing smoothly for a good result.
14. Par 5, 436m
Favour right fairway with your drive and your second shot for the best approach to the green. Safer to be long on the shot in and don’t go left.
15. Par 3, 169m
This green has a ridge across the middle, club for the flag position, favour the left side of the green and the ball will kick on.
16. Par 5, 573m
Aim right fairway off the tee for extra roll. Beware the fairway bunkers left when planning your second. An undulating green calls for a careful read of the putt.
17. Par 4, 318m
Safest play is to the right and lower fairway leaving a short to mid iron shot in. The small green with water right calls for an accurate shot.
18. Par 4, 352m
Sand everywhere in the landing area but right fairway is still the best. The green slopes from back to front – try to be ‘under’ the hole but not short.
